USDA grant funds cover crop root-trait collaboration with the Danforth Center

A $650,000 grant from the USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture is supporting a collaboration between Dr. Peng, Kaiyu Guan, and Sheng Wang at the Agroecosystem Sustainability Center and Christopher Topp’s lab at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center. The team will run multi-year field trials across a dozen cover crop species, combining root phenomics and agroecosystem modeling to understand how cover crop root traits affect soil health and corn yield.
